Brno 16 screens Iranian ‘AniMal’

Iranian movie ‘AniMal’ has been screened at the Brno 16 Int’l Short Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

Iranian movie ‘AniMal’ has been screened at the Brno 16 Int’l Short Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

Directed by Ark brothers, the film was screened at the non-competition section of the 60th edition of the event.

The 15-minute film is about a man who wants to pass the border illegally; so he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal. 

Produced by Iranian National School of Cinema, the film has so far gained several awards and nominations from prestigious international festivals, including the second prize of the 2017 Cinéfondation Festival de Cannes.

It has also won a prestigious award from the 40th edition of the Denver Film Festival in the US.

The Brno 16 is “one of the oldest film festivals in the Czech Republic and has been going on uninterrupted since 1960,” the festival’s website reads, noting that the event is also “one of the oldest short film festivals in the world”.

The 60th edition of the Brno 16 will take place on October 9-12, 2019.
